Elves at Work

P1010450There are two questions you hear quite a bit this time of year: (1) “What do I get for the person in my life who has everything?” and (2) What do you want for Christmas?”  The answer to (1) may be the gift of music.  Have you recorded your music and given it to the person who introduced you to your instrument or took you to lessons?  Or is someone in your life a talent who should be encouraged?  Gift certificates are available from Rife Recording in any amount.  We will work with the lucky musician receiving this gift to maximize the opportunity it provides.  Each certificate is individually printed on card quality stationery, complete with ribbon, ready to be presented.  Two styles are available: one features tuxedo black and the other is a rich brown.  By now, the answer to question (2) is obvious – tell those who ask that you want a gift certificate from Rife Recording Studio!  To make the arrangements, send Jill an e-mail.

Rife Recording Studio is a fully automated 64 track audio recording facility, designed from the ground up with the sole purpose of capturing your musical performance in the best way possible.  We have full multi-tracking and mastering capabilities, along with professional duplication and packaging available.

With the latest Digidesign Pro Tools software powered by Universal Audio’s UAD-2 DSP, the sound of analog recording meets the power of digital editing.  Unmistakable plug-in emulations of vintage analog outboard gear by companies such as Neve, Fairchild, Pultec, SSL, Teletronix, EMT, and more give digital recording the rich sound of analog.

Used by nearly every major recording studio in the world, Pro Tools is the industry standard multi-track recording platform. At Rife Recording Studio, we have the ability to let you record with anyone in the world, in real time, who has a Pro Tools System.  No matter if your drummer is in LA, Seattle, Chicago, New York or halfway around the world, you can still lay your tracks down with them in real time from our studio.

On the front end of all of this is the same audio console used to mix major studio sound tracks, the Tascam DM-4800, a 64 Channel, 24 buss, fully automated digital mixer with flying faders and a “FAT” channel strip containing 4 band EQ and full dynamic compression/expansion on every channel.

For vocal treatment we have high voltage vacuum tube microphone preamps and tube compression to give your voice that big studio sound. We also employ the Joe Meek Twin Q “British” channel strip comprised of a transformer coupled preamp, four bands of British EQ, and optical compression for that signature “Joe Meek” sound.

We have a wide range of microphones available for your use, from the industry standard Shure to large diaphragm tube condensers and ribbon microphones by Cascade and Blue Bird.

There is no need to haul heavy gear to our studio either, unless of course you want to. We have a full six piece set of DW Pacific Birch drums with Zildjian “Custom A” cymbals, a Fender Twin II Reverb guitar amplifier, a Mesa Boogie Recto 4X12 cabinet with Celestion Vintage 30’s, a Mesa Boogie 2:95 Simu-Class Power Amplifier, a Digitech 2120 Tube Guitar Preamp with digital effects, and a Line 6 PODxt Live amp emulator. You will also find a Steinway Grand Piano at your disposal and full midi capabilities.
